UFC FIGHT NIGHT PARIS
Paris, France – UFC® will host its first-ever event in Paris, France, on Saturday, September 3, at the Accor Arena, with a heavyweight contenders’ clash featuring No. 1 ranked Ciryl Gane and No. 3 Tai Tuivasa. In the co-main event, No. 1 ranked middleweight Robert Whittaker faces No. 3 Marvin Vettori in a matchup with title implications.
UFC FIGHT NIGHT®: GANE vs. TUIVASA tickets go on general sale at 10 a.m. CET on Friday, June 24, via Accor Arena and Ticketmaster. UFC Fight Club® members will have the opportunity to purchase tickets at 10 a.m. CET on Wednesday, June 22, whilst those who registered their interest early will gain access at 10 a.m. CET on Thursday, June 23.
Gane (10-1, fighting out of Vincennes, Île-de-France) has had a meteoric rise through the heavyweight division, spurred on by impressive victories over Derrick Lewis, Alexander Volkov and Junior Dos Santos. Most recently, Gane made history as he became the first French-born athlete to fight for the heavyweight championship against his former teammate, Francis Ngannou. Gane now intends to put on a show-stopping performance and set himself up for another shot at the title.
Thrilling striker and fan favourite Tuivasa (15-3, fighting out of Western Sydney, Australia) is coming off a sensational KO victory against former title challenger Derrick Lewis. Tuivasa’s last fight saw him enter enemy territory when he took on Lewis in his home state. Next up, Tai travels to Paris as he intends to continue his momentum up the heavyweight ladder.
Former UFC middleweight champion Whittaker (23-6, fighting out of Sydney, Australia) looks to continue his journey back into the title picture as he takes on Italy’s own Vettori. With a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Whittaker boasts wins over many middleweight contenders, including Jared Cannonier, Darren Till and Kelvin Gastelum. Earlier this year, he went the distance against UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, narrowly missing out on a victory. Whittaker will look to get back to his winning ways in Paris.
Vettori (18-4-1, fighting out of Mezzocorona, Italy) aims to start his 2022 campaign with a spectacular victory and make a statement with the biggest win of his UFC career. During his UFC run, he has delivered notable wins against Paulo Costa, Kevin Holland and Jack Hermansson. Vettori will look to set himself up for another go at the championship.
Additional bouts on the card include:
• A thrilling women’s flyweight matchup sees No. 4 ranked Jessica Andrade (23-9, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) take on France’s own and No. 6 Manon Fiorot (9-1, fighting out of Nice, France).
• John Makdessi (18-7, fighting out of Montréal, Canada) looks to continue his win streak as he locks horns with Nasrat Haqparast (13-5, fighting out of Hamburg, Germany) in what’s sure to be an exhilarating lightweight clash.
• Makhmud Muradov (25-7, fighting out of Prague, Czech Republic) returns to the Octagon to take on fellow middleweight Abus Magomedov (24-4-1, fighting out of Düsseldorf, Germany).
